Things, now:

  • Anticipating Travis Morrison on Saturday
  • Wishing I was not at work
  • Dreading walking home in the snow
  • BLAKE'S! GOTANEWFACE!
  • Disappointed that my BFF / work-wife is stranded in SI
  • Missing the hell out of folks in NC, IL, etc
  • Wishing I had not gotten that Arizona tea this morning
  • Contemplating cleaning up my desk
  • Not doing it because I am sofa king lazy

Important updates! I just put on Drums and Wires and it is already making coming into work today infinitely less terrible! Hooray!

In addition to the myriad of pastimes and obsessions that I have been neglecting and letting fall into dilapidation of late, two of the things that I once held most dear have sadly fallen off of my radar: The Onion's crossword and upcoming shows lists. Thankfully I still subscribe to their weekly email which pointed me in the direction of Travis Morrison's new band this morning, and fortunately I only listen to bands that were cool five or ten years ago. This upcoming dance-party-2001 hasn't sold out yet, so as soon as I get home tonight I will be purchasing tickets and streaming the new(ish) record and then cranking The Ice of Boston til the neighbors' eyeballs fall out of their sockets from dancing around so much.

"AND I THOUGHT, OH GLADYS, GIRL I LOVE YOU BUT (OH) GET A LIFE!"

Hopefully this songza thing works. I won't even bother to put up an MP3 because I know that all of you own this record.

One of my favorite things in the world is putting the iPod on shuffle and hearing songs I haven't listened to in months or years. I am not even kidding you when I tell you that I almost started crying when this song came on this afternoon. What a fantastic song. And very apropos, for me, right now, when work and school and the winter and my craziness seem to be crushing the life out of me and my relationships, to be reminded of the highs, and in turn that those feelings will eventually return.

Okay, enough Livejournal. Remember, 30 days til spring!

I have an alternate email address at Gmail for spam and shady websites. It's not my name, but it's close. Every time I go in to check it I would notice emails from people who thought that they knew me -- I got invitations to parties in Harlem, resumes, and lots of "networky" emails that would just say "good to meet you." This has been going on for over a year, so it's not like the poor dude hasn't had time to figure out where all his emails are going. The weird part is that we seem to be leading slightly parellel lives. These are similarities and differences that I have garnered from the email:

    Similar:
  • We both live in NYC
  • We were both in fraternities
  • We are both in business
  • We are both persuing an MBA
  • We both know people who work at the same East Harlem hair salon

    Dissimilar:
  • He's black
  • I know my email address

Crazy, right? I think I should email him and go get a drink sometime.

Update: Sold out! WTF! D-bags on Craigslist and eBay are selling them for $1000 a pair. Freel? How about I pay you $1000 to hit you in the face with a pipe? That would be more rewarding.

D-d-d-d-d-damn. This was the first band I ever saw, ever. I think it was seventh grade. I made out with my forever-girlfriend in some dorm lounge at UNCC and then went to Shoney's and played footsie with her all night even though my mom was totes sitting right there. I am a rebel! I know!

Also, wait, what the fuck now that I am recounting this again I just remembered that she told me to be quiet when I started belting out "Anna Begins." Screw that this time I am singing like whoa.

No seriously, let's fucking go. Mass emails have been sent. Get on the ball (so-called) friends. Does that mean that I am not friends with you if you won't go see Counting Crows with me? Possibly. Hop to. Post haste. If you don't I will go alone and stew in my displeasure, I swear it.
